“Treasure Of Lost Lake”

School’s out for the summer but the adventure has just begun. Andrea Thomas, Rick Mason, and Cindy Lee have decided to spend their vacation traveling through New England and studying local Native American archeology. Be careful what you wish for Andrea, as the dead are sometimes restless.

Tuesday morning the three friends arrived at the New Hampshire town of Wolfeboro. Their plan is to Scuba dive Lake Winnipesaukee and search for the lost treasure of the Aquedoctan tribe. There are only three things stopping the expedition from moving forward: a good boat, the town council, and the Lake Monster. Wait, what?!

Is the Lost treasure of the Aquedoctan fact or fiction? Can Isis stop the ancient Iroquois witch doctor from killing Rick Mason? What secrets await Cindy Lee in the Hidden Lagoon?

“Justice For All Includes Children, 10”

Saturday afternoon at Central High School, several grade school boys are busy throwing rocks at the classroom windows. High above a familiar hero swoops down to confront the vandals. It is none other than Superman himself! Get ready kids for a life lesson in crime and punishment. Here comes the law!

“Avalanche!!”

The following Friday Andrea Thomas finds herself traveling in a passenger train headed to the snowy peaks of New Hampshire. It has been a relaxing trip, but even in this laid-back environment trouble always finds a way. As Andrea looks out one of the windows daydreaming, she is brought back to reality by arrogant chit-chat behind her.

A man calling himself “Big Roy” is talking up his hunting skills as the other passengers try to ignore him. Andrea does not. No one is permitted to shoot rifles on public ski slopes! Big Roy places Andrea on the pay no mind list, but will B.R. pay for his arrogance? Collect the series to find out!

Reviewer Notes

Being a 70s and 80s child myself, it was nice to see DC Comics was producing PSA messages to help teach children how to behave in public. We really don’t see this in today’s market as the age of comic book readers has risen to late teens and adults. These messages take me back to the good old days of Saturday morning cartoons and Kenner Toys. Do I sound like the stereotypical old man? Thanks.

Some of the outdated language might disturb some of the younger readers with woke sensibilities. The use of the word Indian was in common use as the Western genre was still popular. I assure you this issue is well thought out and mainly geared to younger readers. After reading a few issues I have come to accept the fact there will be no in-depth story arcs. Isis volume one is what it is. I liked this issue as it brings in more Scooby-Doo style elements. We get the “ghosts” haunting a location. We get “monsters” that thwart the hero’s abilities. Then there is a good old fashion reveal at the end. Classic 1970s to the max, dude! I’m give Isis #4 four out of five stars.
