“A Shot In The Dark”

The Fantastic Four have just returned from the Dark Dimension after realigning their cellular structures. Thanks, Salem Seven.  Can you triple stamp a double stamp with no backsies? Unfortunately a Photosynthetic cyanobacteria, of the mirror variant, has played microscopic stowaway on Ben Grimm’s rocky exterior. Now the entire state of Kansas has become infected with the Dark Dimension bacteria.

After performing some quick calculations, Reed Richards has estimated the complete cellular reversal of every lifeform on earth to a matter of days. Once the process is complete no living being on Earth will be able to absorb nutrients. Quick, someone call Oscorp, there’s a new diet product in town!

Can Reed Richards devise a plan to eradicate a microscopic threat from the Dark Dimension? How many turtles can Ben Grimm carry in his burley arms before surfacing for air? Will a brother and sister team survive three days in outer space with only N&N candy to consume? Collect the series to find out!

Reviewer Notes

Wow, the Fantastic Four goes green, and not in a good way. Greta Thunberg, prepare to pout as the first family takes on mirror bacteria. This was a fun issue with some callbacks to previous Fantastic Four events. We also get bombed by product placement in the fashion of a Wayne’s World movie. Old person check!

I have one question though. When did Reed start babbling in ten dollar words? Was this a side effect of having all of the Watcher knowledge shoehorned into his brainpan? I noticed this in the recent Clobberin’ Time comic as well. It’s some funny stuff. Marvel must have purchased a new set of encyclopedias.

My favorite part of this entire book was Ben Grimm saving the Turtles. Oh, and the rechristening of the Grimm truck as the “Fantastic 4×4”. To me, this is a five star book. Go get it now if you are a fan!
