Jared Stevens stands in pitch blackness. There is a light in the far distance but he doesn’t know how he arrived in this void. The last thing he remembers is surfing the internet at Burnsteel’s shithole apartment, and Burnsteel’s sister, Vera, busting his balls. Then everything went black.
Now some goth looking dick in a Sears discount suit is standing next to him. Jared can’t wait for this night to be over. First rats, then darkness, then the lead singer from Bauhaus is handing him a letter. What? Jared has been shot? This is death? The current owner of the Fate artifacts is being served? Served in the afterlife!
