Conan The Barbarian – Volume 01 Issue 11

My Rating

Rating: 5 out of 5.

“The Age Unconquered Part 03 – Call From The Depths”

Know thee, Tiger King, that in your dwindling kingdom of Atlantis, a distant son of Crom shall appear from times unseen. And thus, set the stage for a grim resurgence of evil. In the halls of thy ancestors, you and yours shall battle great odds to uncover the harbinger of the black stone curse. A force suffered by men in your time as well as in others. It is I, Yag-Kosha, traveler of worlds, who has witnessed such atrocities and heroic deeds alike.

“The Real Thulsa Doom”

In this fascinating essay, Jeffery Shanks presents the origins of Robert E. Howard’s most infamous villain, Thulsa Doom. From the sorcerer’s pulp fiction days, to James Earl Jones depiction in the 1982 movie ‘Conan the Barbarian‘, and beyond the Marvel Comics adaptation of the character, Thulsa Doom still holds a place in the modern fantasy genre. Just how old is the necromancer?

“Know, O… Er… Oh Prince…”

Jeffrey Shanks settles the debate on Robert E. Howard’s use of O and Oh in this exclusive editorial. The experts take a look at Robert’s original notes and writings for clues to his intentions. Titan Comics shows that they’re not just about profit, but actual fans of the source material.

Reviewer Notes

This is a stellar comic book from beginning to end. I don’t think I can praise the art and writing any more than I already have, but you don’t want to miss out on this series if you are a fan of Robert E. Howard work, or the fantasy genre in general. I am just glad Titan Comics has kept the age of Hyboria alive for a new generation of readers.

I’m giving issue eleven of Conan The Barbarian five out of five stars. The book is well worth the cover price. If you’re a cheapskate like me, you will know I don’t say that lightly.
