Hellcat – Volume 02 Issue 04

Hellcat – Volume 02 Issue 04

My Rating

Rating: 3 out of 5.

“Soul Mates”

With Sleepwalker’s Imaginator recovered from the floorboards of the murder scene, the dream detective and his host Rick Sheridan review the footage taken during the night in question. Sleepwalker is about to confirm his hunch when the two discover gaps in the recordings. Someone or something has manipulated Patsy Walker’s memories of that night of passion. But why? It’s time to confront the greater of two devils.

A knock at Hedy Wolfe’s front door announces Hellcat has returned but in less of a combative state. Being shot to death and returned form the fiery pits of hell has taught Patsy a little humility this time. Hedy reluctantly allows her old friend to enter but under one condition, Hellcat must seek help from the Sorcerer Supreme, Doctor Stephen Strange.

Within an hour Sleepwalker has joined the impromptu meeting to deconstruct the murder events. Patsy has agreed to be placed into a dream session so her blocked memories can be repaired. As Hellcat joins la-la land, Hedy receives a call from Doctor Strange. Patsy’s frenemy learns the true nature of Blackheart’s Exile Gate construction. The demon has been tricked by the Son of Satan himself. The Dark construct is in reality a True-Form Doorway!

Why does Patsy Walker continue to dwell on events from her high school years? What event cause Chet to gain the nickname the “leopard”? Will Daimon Hellstrom finally reveal Hellcat’s true form? Collect the series to find out!

Reviewer Notes

I’m only guessing here, but does Christopher Cantwell prescribe to the “slow and steady wins the race” style of writing? Even though we get a big reveal in this issue, how long is this story arc going to drag on for? I’m keeping my fingers crossed that this series doesn’t fall into She-Hulk Volume 04 territory.

I miss the fun Patsy Walker series. Hasn’t this girl suffered enough? Leave Patsy alone! Leave Patsy alone! This issue gets a slow and steady three out of five star rating from me.
